Hydrangea’s are beautiful this time of year, hardy and easy. They like acidic soil, morning sun, afternoon shade and plenty of water. The ‘Endless Summer Variety’ is the closest variety to which you would see in the Willamette Valley and grows very well here. ’Endless Summer’ has large blooms that can be changed to pink or blue depending on the ph of the soil. Hardy to -30, 3-5′ tall and wide. We have four other varieties that grow very well here in Central Oregon.
‘Little Lamb’ is a delicate small panicle that turns a pink blush as it ages. Blooms are great for cutting and add a unique dimension to the late blooming garden. Hardy to -40, 4-6′ tall and 5′ wide.
’Limelight ‘ has unique cool green flowers. Blooms age to pink and red in the autumn. Cut for fresh bouquets or dry for winter arrangements. Hardy to -40, 6-8′ tall and wide.
‘Annabelle’ is a fast growing, rounded shrub with creamy white clusters of flowers up to 12″ across. Blooms in the late summer. Hardy -20, 4-6′ tall and wide.
‘Pink Diamond’ has a more up-right growing habit. It’s flowers are cone shaped rather than rounded. Flowers are creamy white turning to a blush pink. Hardy to -40, 6-8′ tall and 8-10′ wide.
